  • Jolie Continues Action Movie Success
One movie that caught my interest this summer was "Salt," starring Angelina Jolie, "Scream" actor Liev Schreiber, Daniel Olbrychski and August Diehl. The movie is about a CIA agent, Evelyn Salt (Jolie), who is accused of breaking her commitment to her country.

  • 'Jersey Shore' brings the heat to Miami
GTL, creepin and fist pumping came back in full swing this summer for the second season of "Jersey Shore" (Miami Edition). After last seasons bar fights, romances and lack thereof, many of us had high hopes for this season of "Jersey Shore." The first episode started the summer off with promises of in-house hookups, girl fights and trouble in paradise for Ronnie and Sammi.

  • "Machete" slices and dices to stay true to its roots
Rarely can a film pay homage to its influences and outclass them at the same time. "Machete" does, and then some."Machete," the brainchild of Robert Rodriguez, who has been involved with such films as "Desperado," "Grindhouse" and "Sin City," can best be described as a campy homage to the low-budget 1970s B movies that traded in high production values for extreme levels of absurdity and a general lack of subtlety.

  • Addition of Terminal Road parking spurs anger for students
Well, here I am. According to those horrible countdown clocks I have a mere 200 something days until graduation. For the second year, I reside in what many of us fondly refer to as "Middle Fulton" (the area that isnt New Fulton, but also isnt up on the hill).

  • Thanks for nothing, Urban Outfitters
I logged on to Facebook this past summer while cooking dinner. Leaning over my computer while water boiled, I noticed a friends status about the Urban Outfitters catalogue shot at Smith College. Several seconds later, after speed flipping through the photos, I went into a rage.

  • 'Machete' hacks, chops and slashes the competition at the box office
Those who have been clamoring for a gruesome, action-packed B-movie with topless women, dismemberment and sometimes both at the same time will be happy to see the Robert Rodriguez film, "Machete."

  • New academic year coincides with changes on Main Street
A new no-smoking policy and the turnover of several local businesses are among the changes that affected the village of Geneseo over the summer.

  • Park 51 controversy is heinously un-American
I am losing faith in America. For over a month, this country has been embroiled in a debate between freedom and oppression, constitutionality and fear, goodwill and ignorance. It is a debate that, in a perfect world, wouldnt be taking place at all. But on Sept.

  • 'Cash Cab' host brings stand-up to campus
09/09/10 - Students filed into the stiflingly hot Edwards Auditorium at 7 p.m. Tuesday night to see Ben Bailey, New Yorks most desired, most fiscally rewarding and, possibly, tallest cab driver. As the host of Discovery Channels hit trivia show, "Cash Cab," Bailey has the voice of a veteran host with the elongated ss and the perfectly placed pauses of a go-to funny guy.

  • Column: Illegible sign language needs better purpose
I have come to enjoy the three and a half hour drive between Charleston and Chicagoland-you can not know the Midwest until youve seen the sun set over endless cornfields and dilapidated sheds. But as I drove Interstate 57 this past weekend, my usual revelry was rudely interrupted.

  • Toilet Talk 2010: The best seats on campus
After participating in the "Burrito Challenge" at La Palma restaurant, I was suddenly "inspired" to figure out where the best bathroom at Nicholls was located. As I traveled the campus, putting my health at great risk, I decided to rank the bathrooms on three factors: cleanliness, isolation and sink ratio to toilets and urinals.

The SAT/ACT is no longer going to be a requirement in the admissions process for future students applying to Marist. "The whole staff was adamant about this change and had been toying with the idea for several years," Brian Apfel, associate director of admissions, said.

  • UNCW Parking Nightmare Could Be Worse
It can sometimes seem like parking officers at UNCW are determined to give out tickets. On days when you are in a hurry and cant find a space in your parking zone, it is easier to park somewhere else to avoid being late for class. Parking on our campus is not ideal, but it really isnt that bad.

  • DinoFight! CD release causes up-ROAR
The DinoFight! CD release party was not the typical punk rock show setting. The lighting set a match-making mood fit for a singles bar. There were chairs and small tables scattered around, limiting the standing space. Behind the crowd were people playing pool and foosball.
